No, NK was working their program through the Clinton years.
Not from what I've read (Bushwhacked Molly Ivans). Anyway, the U.S. never lived up to its end of the agreement, so NK would have been justified had they never halted their progam.

South Africa before all have/had nukes but since they are/were American allies they simply didn't give a ***.
Say what? US (along with other countries) pressure was one of things that convinced South Africa to give up its nuclear weapons. The US certainly didn't say it was ok.
F.W. Declerk said flat out that he dismantled South Africa's nuclear program because he was afraid "******s might get control of a nuclear bomb". I'm sure the desire to end the anti-apartied sanctions also had an effect but mostly the whites in charge saw the white only system breaking down and they were afraid to give blacks control over nuclear weapons.

Justified or not, it was under Clinton. I think you (and ms ivans) are confused cause there was one program that was halted under the agreement, and a second parallel program that they developed after the agreement was signed.
According to the Council on Foreign Relations, NK started assembling Highly Enrichment capability in 2000 - IE while Clinton was President.
BTW, since when is Molly Ivans an expert on nuclear weapons proliferation and national security affairs?

The US committed itself to helping the DPRK in building two light reactors and lifting economic sanctions. We did neither.

Meanwhile back in Iraq, there are no weapons of mass destruction. Bush lied, all you 'patriots' swalled the rhetoric, and now y'all are desperatly trying to find other countries with WMD. The fact is that Iraq was no threat to the US and that all the reasons given to us by this administration was a load of bs.

"In the agreement reached in October 1994, the United States and its allies agreed to supply Pyongyang with two 1,000-megawatt light-water reactors and 500,000 tons of heavy oil a year until the completion of the first reactor. In return, North Korea pledged to freeze its Soviet-designed graphite-moderated reactors.
Under the deal, a U.S.-led international consortium, the Korean Peninsula Energy Development Organization, was formed in 1995. But the $4.6 billion project has been delayed for securing cost-sharing and Pyongyang's test-firing of a ballistic missile in 1998 over Japan, a main financial contributor to the project.
KEDO officials said it would take up to nine years to complete the construction of the reactors. But North Korea has asked for the reactors before 2003 because the 1994 accord said they could be completed in the "next nine years."
The official said the KEDO is preparing to begin talks with North Korea on revising the target date for completing the first reactor.

Note that this is from Feb, 2000, a year before Bush took office. So your original post is wrong Che - why not admit that? Secondly, did Clinton break the agreement? A major financier of the project was to be Japan. NK then test fired a missile OVER Japan. Not surprisingly this delayed the project. This happened in 1998, over 2 years before Bush was elected by the way.

It would really be easier to have intelligent discussions if issues about Iraq were discussed in Iraq threads, about Iran in Iran threads, and about Nkor in Nkor threads. I can understand bringing Nkor in here, since it was a case of discussing parallels and differences between Iran and Nkor on the one hand, and Israel, SA and pakistan on the other. But your points about IRaq have NOTHING to do with the issue at hand and belong in a different thread. Why dont you start one?

Moron. How soon do you think Saddam would get his wish if the sanctions were lifted? You want to put yourself at mercy of someone who attacked his neighbors twice in a 10 years time frame, someone who gassed his own people, and murdered hundreds thousands more?

Cry me a river. Why arnt you advocating an invasion of Congo. After all, over 2 MILLION people have died there in the last ten years. Why dont we invade a half a dozen other African countries who support civil wars/ activily engage in warfare against their neighbors.

A sanction which did nothing to Saddam, but killed thousands of Iraqis because they couldnt get any food or clean water.

Well, Iraq and Iran are right next to each other and their history has been intertwined since Babylon. Both are members of the Axis of Evil. I'd say they go hand in hand.
