    What have you read?
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Chegitz. Those quotes simply prove that Adam Smith was an evil, evil man. They don't disprove his anti-humanism.

Most people do believe it and the government did expect an attack after they slapped sanctions on Japan. They didn't know the attack at Pearl Harbor was coming, but they had guessed that war was coming.

Outside of someone declaring war on us, we weren't getting into it. And if we didn't get into it, we were going to continue to be mired in our sinking eeconomy, as Britain and the USSR and China certainly weren't in any position to purchase enough war materials to rev up our economy.

Only if you believe he is saying this is the way things should be, rather than this is the way things are. What it shows me is that he pays attention to more than just the capitalists, and talks about the disadvanatges of the worker, which is more than most other economists do. Most other economists talk about the worker having an equal hand and a freely entered contract, not Smith. He goes on for several pages describing how the workers are screwed.

Again, Smith is not laying out a system of the way things should be here. He is describing the economy of Great Britain in 1776, how things were. Don't fall into the capitalist trap of believing Smith invented capitalism.

            I call BS che.

By the late 1930's we recognized that Germany was a potential hegemon and that they were likely to make moves to conquer Europe. We were counting on the other great powers of the region to counter the threat posed by Hitler. It was the sudden collapse of France and the widely predicted defeat of the Red Army that sparked a change in American strategic thinking. By the fall of 1940, public opinion polls were showing that people felt that it was more important to insure that the UK defeated Germany than to avoid a European war. The US congress had also started increasing defense funding making it possible to start building an expeditionary force to send to Europe.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio
