It is rather distressing that the usually rabid British presses can be censored over something as ridiculous as Charlies little escapades. It doesn't surprise me that much though, as we've never heard much about the affairs that Bettie and Philip have undoubtedly had.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

I repeat the Government or Queen has no power to censor newspapers. Except for slander, where an injunction can be taken out. This is what happened.

Wether the Judge was biased by the fact that the Royal Family was backing the prosecution is another thing entirely.

I think German tabloids are worse. They just make stories up. The princess of Sweden just won a case against one of those magazines IIRC

We can't get rid of the monarchy! Constitutionally everything eminates from the Monarch.

The difference between Britain and every other democracy is that it is presumed that the Government has absolute power, and any written rights we have were gained at the expense of this Leviathan, like regular elections

A "Complete authority, except for these...." system

Wheras the other democracies are "only these powers, if the powers' aren't enumerated then they don't exist".

Substance over form. Technically she has no power, but in real terms if this was anyone else the story would have run unhindered.

Yes, absolutely. But those rascally Turkish subjects were talking about 'State censorship', not political pressure, which is undoubtably the case.
