    So I presume he means the old name for the old 5 new pence pieces which were identical to shillings. Indeed I remember using shillings as 5 pence pieces.

      10 shillings = 1 crown
      21 shillings = 1 guinea

      Not quite, 1 crown = 5 shillings (now 25p)
      Half-Crown = two-and-six (12.5p)
