No, a democratic tax-funded government prevents such a thing.
Hmm...I trust you'll jump in to correct the liberals when they complain about the power wielded by corporations.

    • Oh, if your answer is alcohol prohibition, take a few minutes to think about that...

Go ahead and answer that. I'm a bit curious as to what you have to say.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

      • Glad to, drug prohibition, like alcohol prohibition before it, has resulted in a massive black market that generates crime.

People who understand the nature of large black markets won't be surprised by that graph. Even Sen Orrin Hatch argued against increasing tobacco taxes because even with the taxes we have now, tobacco tax related crime has been increasing.

Are you saying that a Government should be friendly to corporations in order to decrease their power?o_0

Maybe I misunderstood your original sentence. You did say that libertarianism would prevent people from gaining power over me, right?

Can you respond to my point without asking an unrelated question? You said a democratic tax funded system prevents people from having power in response to someone's assertion that a libertarian government prevents us from having power over others.

Someone else said that, but I'd agree with it. Right now corporations have more power than individuals because we have a democratic tax funded system. Once you have a tax system designed to "re-distribute" wealth, you create a power grab between people wanting wealth distributed to them at the expense of others.

Except the people who work for the tax funded government, ie the Child Protective Services people sometimes, many social workers, hypocritical preachy rehab specialists, zealous drug warriors, middle management bureaucrats......

They don't have power over us, they are a product of a Democratic tax funded system.

                • Berzerker, thanks for the graph as it is somewhat illuminating, but we should be always a little wary of single variable causes.

Perhaps variable y caused both the increase in drug laws and the increase in homicide rate.

                    He's right though.

Now wait for my two-line post to be dissected and waffled over, word by word.

It's easy. They discovered the internet.

Everybody pays taxes, including the working poor, allthough many times the working poor see absolutely nothing from their tax dollars.

I considered doing that but got bored thinking about it.
