"Mal nommer les choses, c'est accroître le malheur du monde" - Camus (thanks Davout)
"I thought you must be dead ..." he said simply. "So did I for a while," said Ford, "and then I decided I was a lemon for a couple of weeks. A kept myself amused all that time jumping in and out of a gin and tonic."

Spoiler:Neo fight an evil army of Libertarians who believe that a status quo should be maintained between humanity and machinery because helping people awake from the eternal slumber or working together with machines to unblacken the skies is being a nanny state.
No, not really.:PBlog | Civ2 Scenario League | leo.petr at gmail.com

I didn't think #2 was as good as #1, but I don't see why people hated it.Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

I didn't hate it, but it wasn't anywhere near as good as #1, nowhere near the hype.
It took itself and its whole mythology and philosophy too damned seriously. It wasn't all that profound to begin with, but you could look past it and not miss much. #2 didn't really give you the option of ignoring all the pseudo-intellectual existential babble; moreover, the action scenes lose their appeal when we know that Neo is a demigod who can't be defeated."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine
"The subject of onanism is inexhaustable." --Sigmund Freud

Not hating it, but after #1 you were expecting something equal or more. It wasn't that. 3/4 of the movie were filled with action they could have reduced or with Zion scenery which they could hav reduced too and they compressed everything at the end where they should have expanded. And just present the whole package a bit more fine.

Careful, Salon gave it muted praise (then again, they so rarely like anything ...)Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

True, but they're usually right. I haven't disagreed with a Salon review yet. (BTW, they loved #2)
