Thorn -- you sound too great of a guy to become anything near as bad as a Nazi -- but then again, I guess I'm being presumptuous since I don't know you personally.

But I would like to think that you're a cool, caring guy. I hope you find SOME way out of your problems.

If you ever get the chance to push that button.... just do it.

Extreme passionate senseless hatred is usually the effects of self-loathing.

Some Cristians really are cool.... if they do not go to church, that is. And Judaism.... well that Zionist crap is nonsense, that is causing a lot of problems.

The world is full of hate. If you try and make a change, you'll get steam rolled. Keep your passion, as you get older it will find ways to express itself more constructively.

As Japher says, stress out by exercizing. Boxing or martial arts are good (boxing is even better because it really focuses on beating the crap out of your opponent, rather than on a self-discipline).

Get out of North Carolina, and go to a tolerant place like San Francisco (if affordable). Do not care about the *******s who try to convert people out of homosexuality: in a conservative society, we are bounded to suffer from this kind of guys, and the best thing is to ignore them.

Share your distress with your good friends. Some will disappoint you, but the others will be patient and try to be helpful. Don't be enraged when you'll be disappointed, because true friends always disappoint some time.

come to the netherlands ...tolerant as hell...i dont know if this helps but when i am upset or mad about someone and there views i always try to think what kind of affect does it have on me directly...that they are shortsided and not-so-smart is there problem and if they try to bother me about it they are even more stupid because i dont care about them and there views. you just have to care about your self and your friends.

So Thorn you're angry with this girl because she went out and had sex with another man? As a homosexual were you really interested in a relationship with her or just the idea that there was a close female friend that you might possibly be able to have a traditional relationship with?

Sorry about my previous post. I reacted a little too strongly to the bits about my religion being evil because of the distorted notions of some guys I never met.

Rather than violent outward disciplines like boxing or martial arts, I would focus on arts of self-control. Displacing rage onto physical objects is often helpful, but in your case the rage shouldn't be there in the first place; you're immensely angry and you don't know why, and that's the real problem here. So you might do better to try and know yourself and cut the problem off at its source. Meditation comes to mind, for a non-religious person like yourself. Or psychoanalysis, or whatever. Until you get this crap out of your system for good, any attempts to vent it would be suppression of the symptoms rather than an actual cure.

Calm yourself somehow; tea, thorazine, deep breathing, it doesn't matter. You say you know you shouldn't be feeling this way. That's a sensible thought. Follow it through. You can think about buttons of doom all you want, but they aren't going to appear, so focus instead on what you can realistically do. I don't know you personally so I don't know what that might be. Talk to friends, like these other guys said. Priests are specifically trained to handle this kind of crisis, but obviously that won't do so I'd suggest a shrink, a teacher, your doctor, or just about anybody else who's dedicated his/her life to helping others.

Most of all, try to think about what you're thinking and why you're thinking it. There's no profit in brooding over the same idea endlessly, so stop and ask yourself why you're doing it. Don't bother with guilt or self-pity; nobody is watching your thoughts (as far as you're concerned, anyway), so you might as well concentrate on viewing your impulses as just another problem in need of a solution, as there's nobody sitting in your head to feel sorry or angry at you, other than you yourself.

Find distractions. Read up on Nazi ideology-not just loose statements, but what it really says at the core-and make your own, INFORMED decision as to whether this is something you believe in. Don't define yourself as "a liberal socialist," or whatever. There's more to you than pat political synopses, so find out what that more is. Beliefs are only useful insofar as they affect your daily life, after all.

I hope some of that helped...

You're not serious with this part -- seriously considering embracing Nazism??

Nazism is the most evil philosophy you can embrace. I embraced at one point, the beliefs of Mussolini. Once I understood my mistakes, I changed. Do not, I REPEAT DO NOT embrace Nazism.

I don't view that as the big issue here. He doesn't understand himself, he says. The key thing for him to do, then, is to think about what he believes in and why he doesn't understand himself in the first place. Hopefully he'll decide he's better than hate-drivel, but one way or another he's got to confront the idea. IMO.

The paragraph you quoted was a little misleading though; the latter half belonged in a separate paragraph, and had nothing to do with Nazism. My bad. I was just saying that you shouldn't define how good or bad of a person you are by your abstract political ideologies.

What is "abstract" of how the original Nazis murdered 12 million people???

Gah. I just said it had nothing to do with the Nazis. I was referring to the part where he fretted that not being a "liberal socialist" made him a bad person, or some such.

And I think it was 11 million. Anyway, while the ideology is evil, believing in it may not make you a bad person so much as a stupid one, or a person who fails to grasp the seriousness of the situation. Believing isn't the same as doing.

                                control. it's all about control.

know that your emotions are transient and mercurial. know that logic is not.

know that your mind must dominate your heart. do not let your heart dominate your mind.

it's hard to do it at first; creating the dichotomy between mind and heart. once you do it, it's a lot easier to manipulate both.

once you have control, you can let cold logic drive most of your actions, particularly if you ever feel anger, or rage boiling. use that logic to destroy that anger, destroy that rage, or harness it into something constructive, like righting wrongs and fixing broken things.
