Oxford is fairly easy to get to from Swansea. You want to try getting there from Hull, or by then, Grimsby I suspect...Speaking of Erith:

i'm fairly sure last time i checked that i can get a train straight from swansea to brum, but i have to change to get to (and, more importantly, back from) oxford. but i'll have another look.

I just checked. Looks like you have to change at Bristol Parkway. You did used to be able to (I was at uni in Brum, had friends in Swansea and lived in Reading so I'm quite familiar with the triangle.)Jon Miller: MikeH speaks the truth
