      No, Korea was a police action. U.S. intervention in Vietnam was not sanctioned by the U.N.

      (Hey, anybody ever notice that "sanction" is it's own antonym? "Because we did not sanction [give permission to] your conduct, we're going to sanction [punish] you now." It's kinda like cleave [cling together, chop in two]. Who invented this stupid language anyway?? )

          ISTR a book called something like the American Army in Viet Nam, or Viet Nam: the Decline of an American Army. VEry specific about units, etc. But the author starts in 1965, IIRC. I take it you're looking for a global order of battle for 1964.

            LotM is correct. Global OrBat for the US Army (preferably entire military), unit by unit on the scale of independent brigades/regiments, and divisions.
