MrFun: try to get a job where you are master of nothing... that's what makes it worthless. Yet, it can still be a well rounded education.

Exactly. While it may not help you get the job. (besides the simple fact that you have any degree) It has benefits in almost any settings. But it's still a Bull**** degree.

Actually I'm quite impress that a typical Bod's rant thread turned into a real discussion.

Well I agree in that you won't get far with a BA degree in any field unless you go on to a Master's -- at least a Master's.

That's because we didn't read his opening post .

Yeah, I kind of skimmed it but that's about it.

After all, who the Hell cares what Bods says anyway. It's basically always gonna be wrong .

And it was another of his typical spew a little hate and leave. I notice he hasn't posted since the first one. But that may be due to the rest of the posts being constructive. (with the exception of SPIKE, of course )
I know real discussions scare Bod's a bit since he is usually unarmed.

Depends on what you mean by far. I think you are right for most cases, wrong for others. I know many successful people who have BAs only and some who have no degree at all. I know a guy with a BA in journalism and he has a company that buys and develops commercial real estate. My sister does alright with her BA in LA teaching 1st graders.

Bill Gates has a degree in what?

There's always exceptions to the rule.

I'm a lot older than most here. Back in MY DAY, (god, I hate saying that) A masters wasn't required. And back then, technical computer people, hardware or programmers didn't really nead any degree, just knowledge. The field was just starting to really take off. Demand for people was great. But my degree was a requirement for a management position. (it didn't matter what the degree was in)

Today, things are quite different and a masters or an MBA is more necessary. (not critical, but real helpful to differenciate you from the masses) If I wasn't approaching retirement, I would consider going back to get one.

There seems to be an awfully lot of exceptions though.

                            Schooling does not equal education.

It is not what you got, but what you do with what you got.

Most people who get a BS tend to think they have it made as they get a good job out of school and begin to float along the road of "success". Yet real success, the big money, is made through risk and effort not through a fancy seal on a degree or three letters after your name...
