Interesting idea, though it's not much use, since I don't have a laptop, so I can't bring it to school

Isn't there a way to make the notes "hang" on the desktop instead?
This space is empty... or is it?

Sounds like an interesting program, but it won't be much use to me if it has the same crap language support as every other MS application.

What are the advantages to this system compared to say, saving notes in Word (and creating folders for each class and then putting your files for each class in them)? Considering I don't really have a need to draw in my notes .

Yes, you can make it always-on-top.

If you don't need to draw or anything, and take words strictly linearly, OneNote doesn't offer too much of an advantage.

It does offer the flags which are very useful for keeping track of things (like reading, studying, homework, etc), and the find feature means you don't need to open each file and search each one individually -- search once and it'll look through all of the course files.

You can use about 50 languages, I don't see what the problem is.

Thanks . I guess I'll just wait until Office 2004 (or 2005) then.... unless I can get '03 through nefarious means .

I'm sure this is an immensely useful program, but I can't seem to get it to run. After I install it, I get the following error message:

The procedure entry point ?Set@Properties@Jot@@GXPAUIPropertySet@2@ABUProper tyInfo@2@PBXW4PropertyType@2@@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library MsoCFU.dll

Anyone have any ideas? Not that I'm particularly optimistic, but you never know.

                      I've no idea, Paul.

ADG: Oh, that sort of thing is done through Outlook 2003 (screenshot attached). OneNote and Outlook are integrated very well, so you can create a new Outlook task from within OneNote.

Though there's a feature in OneNote called SideNote, where it puts a tray entry on bootup. When you click on it, a little window appears where you can enter a brief OneNote note, and it then places this inside a section of the notebook called "Side notes". It's useful for just little things you want to quickly write down and remember.

You've obviously never tried to type furigana in Word. That's four hours of my life that I'll never get back.

That's a problem? I guess basic Japanese language support is something MS hasn't quite mastered yet.

Why should the English version support such a weird character set?

It supports most Western languages, but for weird languages like Japanese you need to buy the Japanese version ( ).

To be honest I thought somebody would say something like this far sooner.
