This guy looks pretty serious. O_O
She's thinking about it?
I don't even know her and I'd be willing to bet $5 she's already decided to say yes. No doubt she just wants to make him sweat a bit first. In any event the guy is a bit creepy but he obviously cared enough about her to work out a bunch of details in advance when he first met her. My guess is he has never been much of a lady's man but he really wanted to be one and that's why he went to such extreme efforts to begin with (that can be a good or a bad mark depending upon how you look at it).
BTW how long have they been dating? I don't mean long distance dating either since that isn't really dating. If it hasn't been two years then I'd say it's to soon to think about marriage especially since this is her first real relationship.
I now hold this man with a degree of awe and reverence that I have not held for many people.
Okay, so he's a smooth customer who knows how to breakdown the defense of a woman, but awe and reverence? Sheesh, there are many who are like him out there.

owing to certain cycles which he had evidently monitored very closely, it was impossible for her to get pregnant at that time.
Sounded fairly good up until this point.
Well, he also seems to really like her. He quit his job in Korea and moved to Canada so he could be closer to her.
And then things go all to ****. I wouldn't trust most most of the white boys working here farther than I could throw us (I'm a glorious exception of course ). This place is a HUGE magnet for creepy/sleazy guys, and what with that, the whores and the BS about "certain cycles" I'd be really worried for my friend.
None of us can judge either of them, this is just a short story. It's interesting, but in the end - whatever.
I met my fiance on the Internet 6 years ago. 3 years ago I went to Singapore to meet her for 1 month, her father was unsure of it, but first day he met me he allowed me to stay with them in their home.
1 year later, my fiance comes over to New Zealand (christchurch) for 2 weeks, all is great. Just this year I was over in Singapore again for another month (during chinese new year, best chance to meet the relatives).
Next year in Jan, she will be coming back for another month hopefully, and at the end of next year we will be getting married.
Long distant relationships do work, during WW2 and WW1 there were hundreds of penpal writings, between soldiers and women back in their home country.
Face it, we are living in a time where it is easier to communicate and travel the world, soon it will be a commonplace to find a relationship outside your city/country.
Oh and my point is... if this was a story that wasn't a long distant relationship, would it have been interesting? I mean, this sort of thing is happening right now 1 million times as I type this most likely.
creeeeeeeepy. He observed her cycles? Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
As for my own personal story, I'll just say it forms the foundations for Starchild's Dating Rules #2 and #4
2: Never date bisexuals. Double agents of the homoworld.
4: Blind dates set up by friends are, in someway, all guided by the devil toward ruin.
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

Aaaaaah, OK Korean guys tend to be a little strange when it comes to dating (at least by US standards) and marriage happens damn fast when Koreans start pushing 30. Wouldn't worry too much.
Yes, he's 29 so maybe he's feeling the calling of the menopause.
My own thoughts:
I liked the whole "pampered retreat" thing. I guess I either didn't do a good job of describing it the way she told me, or the whole gender difference thing was bigger than I thought. I'm not into teddy bears but I thought that was a cute idea... Now if only some guy could find a romantic way of giving me jewelry and a GameCube...
The cycle thing scared me and it wouldn't have convinced me personally, partially because many of my friends in the UK were Catholics and had a fair number of horror stories to tell about when the rhythm method failed them completely. Fortunately nothing bad happened in this case but I thought it was risky. I was surprised but not repulsed at the fact that he knew when her monthly time was - all of my exes knew simply through hanging around me. (And the subsequent fracas that followed.)
The girl did ask the guy once what would happen if she got pregnant. He answered that it would make him very happy because then he'd be "compelled" to marry her. (I guess there's greater social pressure on the guy to marry rather than abscond, at least in this particular East Asian culture.) After that, they started using protection at her request.
Some of you mentioned it was strange that the girl was a virgin until she was 24. Her culture still holds sex as being mostly a male imperative - it's okay for a guy to visit "Love Hotels" but it's not okay for girls to have sex before marriage. She already counts as being quite expeienced for her age because of her current relationship.
And Boshko... smoke me a kipper, would you? I'll be back before breakfast!
