Did anyone read those non-BBC Dr Who novels: the New Adventures? Those were really excellent, and when in 1996 the TV Movie reminded the BBC of what they had going for them they pulled the license just like that. Stuipid Beeb.
Hey - I have the entire set of novels, New Adventures (all but two) and all the BBC novels - I don't need to download them Just asking out of interest's sake.

I read them(at least, until I stopped buying them because I didn't have the time to read them).
They were mixed, with some good, some bad, a few stellar and some very poor. Not quite as family oriented as the TV show (and not what I would want out of the return to TV, IMO - the novels are a great way of pushing the boundaries, but I dont think I want to see a new TV series do the same).
I'm starting to get the Dr Who audios, and I'm liking them.

So which have you got, Edan? I have looked at them but for $35NZ plus per month and a backlog going back to '99 to catch up on I am giving them a miss ATM. I have been concentrating on getting the original series in its best format - BBC video where it exists (even if I have off-air recorded copies) and the remastered soundtracks on CD where they don't exist on video.
After that I'll either save my money or consider the BF audios, so anything you say about them will help.
I taped my dr. who's off the tv, and onto betamax. Beat that!!!

The ones I have at the moment are the Sarah Jane ones, The Dalek Empire ones, The tomorrow people ones and some of their interview tapes. I've also listened to a few of the Dr Who ones a friend has (as well as a couple of the Prof & Dorothy audio adventure)
You're right that they're expensive - I bought most of the ones I had cause they were on sale at the time.
The acting quality was good, and the stories are fairly good (not top notch, but enjoyable). I've heard that some are vey good, while others are mediocre (and I've been told that the actress who plays Mel does a really good job compared with her televised acting).

They're expensive - about the cost of a video release, so I would suggest collecting the video releases first, and then if you want more Who, try the audios.

Cheers for the advice - I was certainly planning on finsihing off my video collection and catching up with all the DVD s that have been released so far first.
It really has seemed that, for a show off-the-air, it has tonnes being released: the official magazine, videos and now DVDs of all the old stories, CDs where the videos do not exist, a novel every month, a novella every month, non-fiction books, the BF audios every month, some BBV videos and audios every now and again....
