  • Who watched Manchester United vs. Arsenal on the weekend?

I thought United should have won, what with the penalty and all. But what shocked me more was the way Arsenal's players behaved after the final whistle - hassling Ruud van Nistelrooy.

This is already after Patrick Vieira was sent off for kicking at him, and Martin Keown came and shouted in his ear after he missed the penalty.

With Arsenal's appalling disciplinary record and its players' violent behavior, it's a wonder more people don't hate them.
Everything changes, but nothing is truly lost.

More will come of the post-final whistle goings on, methinks. Very ordinary efforts from a lot of people in the lead up to it, too, I thought, including the ref.

Replays showed van Nistelrooy made it appear as though Viera had kicked him, though Viera indeed had not. Van Nistelrooy should have been booked making it appear Viera had retaliated when he indeed had not. Very ordinary refereeing, though it was not clear from his angle, replays were damning

It also appeared from the replays that van Nistelrooy pushed with his thighs against Viera's neck, throwing him to the ground.

The suggestion on the radio is that "five Arsenal players, plus Gary Neville" are likely to be cited and possibly suspended.

            Keown is an animal.

Certain Arsenal palyers are nothing but a bunch of thugs. Keown is getting worse with age.

Their behaviour towards RVN after the penalty and final whistle was absolutely disgraceful. Keown took a flying leap at RVN and punched him in the back of the head for god's sake!

Frankly I'm amazed that RVN didn't turn round and punch his lights out - I certainly would have done if anyone did that to me.

And IMHO Vieira deserved to be given a second yellow card for kicking out - whether he actually made contact is rather irrelevant. RVN probably deserved a yellow too since it was a clear foul on Vieira.

What a rubbish game. Barely a chance in the match.

I agreed with Viera's sending off. Thought Ruud should have had 2 yellows. First for the initial foul and a second for "simulation".

You'd jump out of the way too if Viera swung his leg at you.

It was not a good game. Arsenal still keept some of the bad performace from the Inter match. The big difference that they where a lot more careful on the flanks. Even if Christiano Ronaldo (as the replacement for Beckham and only 18 years old, it will probably turn out to have been a great deal for Man U) and also to some degree Giggs made some fine moves, it never turned out to be as dangerous as when Inter was on the attack. Made it into what it was.

As for Ruud, he's a boring pansy in my book. Not much better than Inzaghi. Still, kicking against another player like that is a yellow card.

I'd bet that man united wins this season also. At last they spent some off their money on a decent and young goalie to fill out the gap left by Peter Schmeichel, Barthez is just a clown. Also, they have consistency. Compared to most other teams a large share of the players have been at the club for years and/or have been signed at a young age or even as trainees.

To be honest, I'm baffled at why people think that RVN tried to pretend that Vieira had made contact with him. If that was his intention he would have dropped to the floor screaming and clutching his leg, just like they always do. He didn't however, he simply jumped out of the way as Vieira lashed out and then looked shocked at what had happened. Quite a sensible reaction, really.

Yeah but ManU would be ****ed if he was suspended.

I'm just waiting for Lauren, Cole, Keown to all get suspended for 3 games. With van Bronckhorst and Volz out on loan The Arse might find themselves a little short of defenders.
