Sorry, this is a silly troll. Jesus was not a socialist, communist, democrat, or republic, or anything else. He was not interested in earthly politics.
In fact, his message had more to do with helping others voluntarily, than being forced to do so. See the Sermon on the Mount, for example. Nowhere does he advocate any sort of government policy aimed at helping the poor.Follow me on Twitter: http://twitter.com/DaveDaDouche

You mean stuff like this, MikeH?
Matt 25:14-30 "For it is like a man, going into another country, who called his own servants, and entrusted his goods to them. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each according to his own ability. Then he went on his journey. Immediately he who received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. In like manner he also who got the two gained another two. But he who received the one went away and dug in the earth, and hid his lord’s money. "Now after a long time the lord of those servants came, and reconciled accounts with them. He who received the five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents. Behold, I have gained another five talents besides them.’ "His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ "He also who got the two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents. Behold, I have gained another two talents besides them.’ "His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ "He also who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter. I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the earth. Behold, you have what is yours.’ "But his lord answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I didn’t sow, and gather where I didn’t scatter. You ought therefore to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back my own with interest. Take away therefore the talent from him, and give it to him who has the ten talents. For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have abundance, but from him who has not, even that which he has will be taken away. Throw out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’"

Supply-side economics... or giving free money to the rich (which is what it is in reality) contradicts the main ideals of Christianity. But there are and have been sects of Christianity (or rather people who call themselves Christians but really aren't) that have embraced this kind of Social Darwinism. There was a Calvinist movement around the era of progessive-ism... most of the robber-barons were members of such congregations.
Now, some of the Neo-Con's and friends are the modern day equivalent.
Personally, I don't see how someone can proclaim to be a follower of Christ's teachings, and support Reaganomics, or supply side, or whatever you want to call it. Hypocrits... the whole lot of them.To us, it is the BEAST.

It's not a lame troll, it's an excellent one.
TCO, it's a comic, I'm not posting all the images here.
Basically it says being a money grabbing greedy Republican bastard is incompatible with the tenets of Christianity*.
JohnT, yes that's excellent. Now the man who has made all those extra talents can go out and spend them helping the poor and needy.
David Floyd: Good point, it's about choice so it should be voluntary. I take it then that the people who favour this form of economics and also follow the teachings of Jesus are donating as much of their earnings as they can to help those less fortunate than themselves. Basically just keeping enough for their own modest survival .
*Now that's a lame troll.Jon Miller: MikeH speaks the truth
Jon Miller: MikeH is a shockingly revolting dolt and a masturbatory urine-reeking sideshow freak whose word is as valuable as an aging cow paddy.
We've got both kinds

Sava,
Cite some Scripture if you're gonna argue the Bible and Christianity. Otherwise, don't post about that which you have no clue.

Ah. Well, in that case, you'll notice that the thread title says CHRISTIANITY. In a thread about Christianity, I'd say that the Bible is highly relevant.Follow me on Twitter: http://twitter.com/DaveDaDouche
