First exit polls suggest Sweden will reject the Euro

  • To be honest, even though I am a true and ture European, I can see why the Swedes have voted No, and would probably have done the same in their turn.

    The EU is in a mess at the moment. Certain countries are allowed to run up their deficits and as such inflict their economic woes on the rest of the Euro zone. Why would a smaller economy want to join only to be dominated by the mismanagement of the french and german economies.

    It doesn't help that the basic set up of the EU is not particularly democratically transparent either.

            • The EU cannot effectively force member states to control their deficits, as the French and Germans have demenstraed, thus in the long run it will be hard to prevent the Euro from becoming a weak currency like the Lira.
