That only helps to validate my very low opinion of Spears: what a stupid thing to say.

I just read Bush' speech on page 1.
Originally spoken by Bush
The Americans who assume great risks overseas understand the great cause they are in. Not long ago I received a letter from a captain in the 3rd Infantry Division in Baghdad. He wrote about his pride in serving a just cause, and about the deep desire of Iraqis for liberty. "I see it," he said, "in the eyes of a hungry people every day here. They are starved for freedom and opportunity." And he concluded, "I just thought you'd like a note from the 'front lines of freedom.'"
Besides that, "the deep desire for liberty in the eyes of hungry people"...How anyone can buy this crap...

Here's a big surprise:
White House Says Iraq Funds Request Still Falls Short
The White House acknowledged Monday that it substantially underestimated the cost of rebuilding Iraq, and that even the additional $87 billion it is seeking from a wary Congress will fall far short of what is needed for postwar reconstruction.
Administration officials said President [sic] Bush's emergency spending request -- which would push the U.S. deficit above the half-trillion-dollar mark for the first time -- still leaves a reconstruction funding gap of as much as $55 billion dollars.Last edited by uh Clem; September 9, 2003, 07:37."When all else fails, a pigheaded refusal to look facts in the face will see us through." -- General Sir Anthony Cecil Hogmanay Melchett

It makes more sense in context; she gave it as a coy answer to avoid any sort of comment that would reflect badly upon her. Rather intelligent and a tactic that Johnny Depp and others would do well to learn.Last edited by Drake Tungsten; September 9, 2003, 07:04.KH FOR OWNER!

Nope, I don´t think so.
If it isn´t really the Opinion she has, it is just a Sign of Cowardice, not to say what she really thinks for fear that she might provoke Anger in some people.
After all I know she has enough money to afford a wealthy Lifestyle, even if all Americans decided to Boycot her CDs, so I think she can also afford to have an own OpinionLast edited by Proteus_MST; September 9, 2003, 07:45.Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. Isn't Brittney's career more or less over as it is? I'm not following the life and adventures of the young stars of today with a close eye. But I think I can spot a has-been when I see one. I mean, starting a controversy might be a good thing, to get the last few bucks out of the market.

Great speech Agathon... you hit the nail on the head!
Britney is just another piece of white trash... only she was lucky enough to sell her body and "talent" for big bucks. I'm not surprised by her views at all, nor will I hold them against her. I thought her a dope and a slut before and that hasn't changed.
I envision a Bush campaign commercial with Britney Spears and her dancers...I wouldn't put it past the RNC.
To us, it is the BEAST.

Dressed as Iraqi guerillas, with Bush and Britney singing "Hit me Baby one more time"?“Now we declare… that the law-making power or the first and real effective source of law is the people or the body of citizens or the prevailing part of the people according to its election or its will expressed in general convention by vote, commanding or deciding that something be done or omitted in regard to human civil acts under penalty or temporal punishment….” (Marsilius of Padua, „Defensor Pacis“, AD 1324)
