This list is a travesty! Steve Jones (sex pistols) is not even on this list!
We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI

To return to seriosity, I reacted to that as well. Steve Jones is quite probably the most rhythmically accurate guitarist of all time...

And why Tom Verlaine over Richard Lloyd?

Is Chet Atkins on the list? Couldn't find him.

Andres Segovia and John Williams could play most, if not all of these folks under the table.

And what about Nick Drake? He was an incredible acoustic guitar player.

Why not? If you can really do power cords well, you are doing good rock
To an extent, thats more of an issue with the rhythm guitarist, leads have more flexibility in that they can use chords, note, scales, riffs or just an instrumental.

Jimi Hendrix of course. Kirk Hammet should be in the top 10. Jimmy Page should be at number 5 without even considering Led Zeppelin IV.

Lets not be too harsh on Kurt Cobain. As an accoustic guitarist, he is easily the best I've ever heard. Most people concentrate on electrics, an area where he seems relatively mediocre.

                          The correct list should be:

                          1. Keith Richards
                          2. Brian Jones
                          3. Mick Taylor
                          4. Ron Wood
                          5. er...
                          6. that's it
Mick Jagger even played on a couple of tracks though, so put him at #5.

Kurt Cobain is THE MOST OVERRATED ROCK STAR EVER.

Because he was better. In "Marquee Moon", it isn't the Lloyd solo that gets pulses racing.

No, it's Lloyd's insanely accurate and complex riffs underneath the intro, verses and chorus. Since Verlaine is so much better as a solo guitarist I used to think it was him doing them until I saw them live.
