Always clean the metal filter in the cafetiere.

Always use freshly boiled, but not boiling, water. It should be just off the boil, as if it's boiling, it will make your coffee too bitter.

A heaped teaspoon per cup is about right. I prefer my coffee a little stronger, so shake a few more grounds in.

If you're using a cafetiere, the grind setting for your coffee beans should not be the same as for filter coffee- the grounds should be larger.

Let the coffee brew for three to five minutes, then press.

If all else fails, find a Brazilian boyf.

    Bon appetit.

I use freshly roasted and ground organic fairtrade coffee beans that were grown by a farming cooperative who uses the money to build schools and buy medicines.

I don't know if the coffee is actually any good but I feel so good for simply drinking it that I don't care.
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

One of the girls downstairs from me in 'lanta worked for a roastery. Was really nice to get fresh roast. That is the key: Arabica beans and fresh roasted.

            You want *really* fresh roasted?

Get some green coffee beans, and a hot air popcorn popper.

            No, I'm not kidding.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

The only French press technique I know is to blame everything on America.
