  • That's right, Diss. SF WAS a playoff team last year, so why wouldn't they still be good. The only quibbles was how they would deal with a new coach. Even though it was the Bears, they seemed to deal with them fine (put up the most points this weekend of any team).

    • My prediction:

NFC - Tampa beats Philly and repeats

      AFC - Does it matter?
      Oakland beats Tennessee

      • How can you possible have the SAME NFC and AFC Championship Game? Have you even been watching football since 1998? It's parity man, things change at a rapid pace in this league.

Oh, and don't forget about KC as well. If their D is any better, they could be dangerous.

            Seriously:

            NFC Ch'ship: PHI vs TB

            • Just heard something interesting on ESPN. Apparently the last two Superbowl winners (TB and NE) LOST their first game. So look at the losers to see who'll go this year ... maybe that is what Miami was thinking.

                  • Allen over Payton? Blasphemy!

NO... it isn't even close. Payton by a mile. Look at the stats...

                      • I did just look at the stats... one that POPS out is the difference in number of carries. Al Davis did not like Allen too much. That's the reason he gets 200 carries a year while #1 backs like Payton got 300 carries at least (usually get 300-400 carries per season).

I consider Allen-Payton to be similar to the difference between (Emmitt) Smith- (Barry) Sanders. Stat wise, Emmitt wins easily, but many will say Barry was the better back.

                        • If we compare:

                          Allen:
                          Att: 3022
                          Yards: 12,243
                          YPC: 4.1
                          TD: 123

                          Payton:
                          Att: 3838
                          Yards: 16,728
                          YPC: 4.4
                          TD: 110

It looks much closer when you look at Yards per Carry and TDs.

But, you're right, barry was the best pure back by a mile.

                              • Gee... looking at the numbers... it isn't close.

Big difference between 4.1 and 4.4 when you consider the numbers of attempts.

                                And 38% more yards...

                                Payton easily
