so if all you needed to do was move two or three .docs a week, from downstairs on your 120Mhz Laptop to upstairs to your 1.7 Gig desktop for printing, and both machines had floppies, how would you move the data?

ie currently I don't NEED another way to move the files, so why should a pay for one?

So, not a thread about impotence then.

Nope, though I'm sure if you start one you'll get the answers you came looking for!

          What:

          1. How long would a copycat thread on impotence last before closure.
          2. How long would I get banned for making it?

          I think I'll give it a miss.

What I do is hit "print" on the laptop, then go get it from the printer upstairs whenever I want.

                  If I had to use a 120MHz laptop ( ), I'd obviously use a floppy.

But if I didn't have a network, I'd use my USB keychain. Writes in ~0.1 seconds.

I have always hated floppy disks and have finally reached a point where it is unlikely I will ever have to use one again. I now use CD-RW for transferring large volumes of information (CD writers are so cheap nowadays anyway), CD for something more permanent...or for something smaller I will often email it.

As for boot disks, well perhaps in the days of Windows 9x and 3, for solving serious problems/installation or different configurations respectively, but now with XP that use is redundant anyway. If I want to install XP fresh or, heaven forbid, something went wrong with the XP installation, I'd just boot from CD...

...hopefully I will never have to use another damn floppy disk again, I have always had a bad time with the things, and they are long since obsolete...

I've got a 128 MB USB keychain, unfortuneatly it won't fit into any of the holes in my 120 Mhz laptop, whereas a floppy will

You can't get a USB card for it?

I was going to ask you that, can you get them? Do they you use the PCMIA or the serial? It certainly would be handy..

By the sound of it his laptop predates USB by a good distance...but it comes down to the thing of old technology...

It does, but maybe a USB could run off the PCMIA card? USB's just a fast serial connection with a power out line.
