I think I'll have to agree with the "no-one cares about Man Utd in Manchester" thesis at the moment. I can't find their ****ing game on TV tomorrow anywhere

(Incidentally, it's been shown a lower percentage of Liverpool fans live near to the ground than Man Utd fans)

"Having said that, Rennie had a ridiculously bad game, although I don't think that would have affected the outcome."

Agreed. It might make a difference to our goal difference at the end of the season though.

You know, sometimes I hope United concede an early goal in games - if we do, we play pretty well; if we don't, we'll maybe score first and try to sit on a 1-0 and end up conceding because we just can't be arsed going for the second. Never see Arsenal doing that do you.

I don't know, it looks to me like they have a pretty good team this year. Keane was outstanding in that game (easily man of the match) and Djemba-Djemba looks really good as well. That's where games are won and that's why Newcastle are doing so poorly, they don't have a midfield that is up to the task.

Van Nistelrooy was OK too, but I didn't like his theatrical antics.

blimey well done liverpool, 3-0 at everton, should help to kick start their season.

did anyone catch the spurs game, 3-0 at white hart lane to fulham, i wouldn't like to be glenn hoddle right now

we've got city tomorrow, if they play like they did against pompey last week we should win. city have signed steve mcmanaman from real madrid, should be interesting to see how he can link up robbie fowler. personally i hope he gets a regular game at city, he might even solve england's left wing problem

              Agathon,

Newcastle were better than Man U by quite a way in the first half
I think that's a rather rose-tinted view; it was reasonably even, and I think we'd have seen Newcastle fall to pieces had O'Brien been sent off as he deserved to be.

We nearly grabbed an equaliser at the end though. But it was one of the poorest performances I've witnessed
Yes, well you shouldn't have been in the game at that point...

Having said that, Rennie had a ridiculously bad game, although I don't think that would have affected the outcome.
Not convinced. If he'd have got the biggest decision right we would probably have been looking at three or four nil...

It should be on at the ****... but it's definitely on at the White Horse on Worsley Road if you want a wander over there...

Hmm a walk to the White Horse and back (30 mins each way) or give the £6 to my dad so he can get it on Pay Per View. £6, which is about an hour's work. An hour's work..just like the walk the walk to the White Horse.

                White Horse serves beer. Yep.

Not really, I was there. Newcastle were better, got to the ball first, and created the best chances in the first half - not a dominating performance, but clearly better. Taggart was going mental at his team even before the penalty call.

Yes, well you shouldn't have been in the game at that point...
I can't recall all of the chances, but Scholes butchered one with only Given to beat. Anyway, why should Newcastle be to blame for Man U not taking their chances - if we'd taken ours in the first half it would have been much the same.

If he'd have got the biggest decision right we would probably have been looking at three or four nil...
I think Rennie was just evening things up after he denied us a penalty at the other end a few minutes before. From where I was sitting it was a bad call. But half the time he was looking the wrong way. My uncle, who does match commentary had a list of bad decisions and he had about 8 in the first ten minutes.

Surprisingly, I think Newcastle would have played better with ten men. At least there wouldn't have been the lame duck performances from Robert and Ameobi (who would have been substituted) and Jenas would have come on earlier (he was actually quite good when he came on). The second Man U goal was caused by Newcastle just giving the ball away and then just standing there - that's literally what happened - I don't know if it could be seen properly on the telly.

Anyway, it's old news now. I can't wait to see us humiliated by Portsmouth and Wolves.

It's really surprised me how Liverpool and Newcastle have fallen so far.
