English is just as old as Greek, both being descended from Indo-European and all. Our language has just evolved a bit more, mainly because we've been out kicking ass and taking names worldwide while you've been stuck on your ****ty peninsula, kissing Turkish ass, reeking of feta cheese and wistfully remembering the days, thousands of years ago, when your country was actually worth something.

Since when was Greek any sort of influence on Latin? You might want to study your linguistics a little more.

latin derives from greek to a very large extend.

of course you have, as an american, nothing
not even english is yours so dont try to defend latin.

Prove it. The Romans stole a lot of things from the Greeks, but I don't think language was one of them.

Can't prove it, can you? I did a quick Google search just in case, but I didn't turn up any evidence that Latin is derived from Greek either. Sorry.

to a large extend based on greek. there are two schools of though
once says that it is derived
the other that it is not but heavily based on greek

                        eitherway

                        go away unhistorical worthleess pest,.

Yes -- the fact that posted historical facts/summaries on here are not as well thought out, due to typing as I read the thread, instead of a fully drawn-out report, means I will unintentionally leave out other information.

Well, just wanted to break the anti-Southern rant .

Funny, seeing as he posts this in American English .

I hate to break in to all this mudslinging, but I am finding numerous contradictory theories on the origins of the name 'KKK'. My source was a very old one, Sir Authur Conan Doyle. Perhaps the KKK had a vested interest in suppressing such a vile start to their movement?

Man, why did I have to actually look at this thread? For a moment there I was under the blissful illusion that I actually got over seventy meaningful responses, as opposed to paiktis attacking western europe for a page and a half...
Sorry I wasn't here to reply, folks. My computer went totally whack-nuts last night for reasons beyond my limited comprehension.
Anyway, I think it's safe to say that the movie was NOT historically accurate. The government didn't give forty acres and a mule to any black people, even the Union volunteers they actually promised them to, let alone every freed slave in the south. Also, if I were one of those black militiamen at the end of the movie, I don't think I would have run screaming without firing a shot the moment the guys in white rode in. I'm terrible at strategy, but it seems to me that charging on horseback head-on, in formation, four abreast through city streets with no room to maneuver, against a vastly superior force on foot, the KKK were actually sitting ducks in that situation. At least a dozen men in the militias had a clear field of fire, against enemies who essentially blocked out all but four of their men, who were firing in the air for some damnfool reason, apparently not realizing that their bullets would come down at the same speed as they flew up, killing their compatriots in the long column behind them. A few shots and you'd have the streets barricaded with dead horses and men, and the rear guard would have no choice but to try and jump over them at the speed they were moving. A few more shots after that, the street's a dead end of dead or dying flesh. Move a few troops through the alleys to make a similar mess from ambush throughout the lines, and you have total slaughter MTO. But no, these being "ig'nant ne-groes," they run from laughably outgunned enemies for fear of their scary laundry clothing. Honestly...
