      well..arn't most mp3's less volume? it may be the cd, because i've noticed that dvd's usually play at low volume too.

        Well MP3s get converted to wavs and they retain their original volume. There are ways of altering that but so far I haven't found a reliable way to boost volume of some MP3s to satisfactory levels without distortion.

        Could be that brand of the CD plays some part too, now that you mention it.
