  • Idi Amin dead

    He finally passed away. Too bad he never went to trial for his many crimes.

    why?

    A head UGandan Govt. officail (forgot his name) said on BBC that those sort of trials make funny heroes out of people, and the way he died was probably a good enough punishment.

    I am sure someone might have a link to what he said properly though.

        So no one should ever be tried for war crimes? The opinion of a Ugandan gov. offical is just that, an opinion of this one guy.

        Dying in a hospital bed is not much punishment for the deaths of hundreads of thousands and the exile of thousands more.

              yeah, but as the Ugandan top govt. official said, he died out of his senses (or something) not able to look after himself, presumably dribbling his food down him etc etc.

              anyway, whenever these dictators are tried, they always seem to get house arrest, which is hardly a punishment imo.

                  Ah, the man we all loved to hate during my childhood.

                  His death comes 35 years too late, I'm sure most people will agree.

                    Ah, another SOB bites the dust , good, let's hope these come in three too, certainly enough of them to get good odds.
                    Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

                        Ah, I'm reminded of the old song...

                        "Idi! Idi! Idi Amin!
                        The meanest man Uganda ever has seen!"

                        Well, now he's one of the deadest...

                              tsk sava, that typical "revenge" mentality is no good.. on the contrary it only makes things worse;

                              of course i'm not unhappy that Amin's dead, but what does it matter anyway, he's been out of power for so long and it would have been better if he was tried for what he did
