I voted No - I don't think gay kids should get such special priveleges. In fact, no one should get such a 'privilege'. It is idiotic.

Ahh, hell. I changed my mind. Let's round all the fags up and send them to a special school

          Thumbs down.
I'm more or less indifferent on every issue having to do with sexual orientation; I oppose the idea mainly because it makes no sense to go flushing money from our already-strained educational budget down the toilet like this. I mean, how big of a percentage of students are openly gay?
Come to think of it, it would be in the best interests of conservatives to encourage open homosexuality, wouldn't it? Assuming sexual orientation has a genetic component, as I've heard, more gays out of the closet=less straight sex among homosexuals=a lot fewer gay people a few generations down the road. Assuming no heterozygote advantage and blahblahblah...I don't really know what I'm talking about, but am I right?

Yes, you are right; you don't know what you are talking about.

Honestly, you are right, we can't afford this and shouldn't even be an issue, especially when we are to encourage equality. This is the type of backward logic I excpet from bigots... I did, however, hear that a law suit was filed against the city about this school this morning... ?

I really don't know. I'm totally against forcing people to go to them.

But the public schools here are "segregated" if you want: there's a public boys school, public girls school, public sports school, public "career" school (mechanic apprentice + highschool, etc). So I really don't see why there'd be a problem if they also added a public gay school, where gay students who felt they were getting buillied to the point of it affecting their education could go.

Erm, that's one of the main reasons people argue in favor of them.

The vast majority of gay youths have to live a lie in regular highschools because they're fairly homophobic in nature, some worse than others.

So instead they want to round 'em all up in a single building where they can be bombed en masse? What kind of dimwits think these things up?

Yup, put 'em all in one spot so that when you feel like doing a little gay bashing... you know where to go!

Just what are you guys talking about?

The last time I've checked, all of the proposals are for schools that aren't mandatory. You're not forced to go there, at all.

It exists as an option for students who feel they can't learn at a school where they are constantly harassed for their sexuality.

It's not rounding them up in a single building, it's providing them a haven so they can learn, too.

Also it would be a place where we could find them if we wanted them.

It shouldn't even be an option.

A mistake... for people that are different, it's bad to grow up like that - they may end up thinking everyone is like them.

Those gays will be in for a shock when they're 18 and find out there are straight guys...

I think a lot of people are confused -- aren't we talking about gay high school.
