Schools for Gays and Lesbians

I don't know if a thread was already made about this. I went back a few pages and didn't see any...

I saw on the news last night that they're planning on creating new high schools for gay and lesbian students as a result of a recent lawsuit.

Apparently, gay rights activists think its a bad idea to isolate them from the rest of the student population. And something like 70% of the people polled thought it was a mistake while less than 30% said it was good. And I can tell you right now, those 30% are not gay and lesbian supporters... they're people who don't want their children in the same class with gay and lesbian students.

Anyway, what do you think?

And had you heard of this? Do you have any more details?

Seperation = segregation = racist/discrimination. NO.

I don't know why anyone in their right mind would support seperate schools for gays unless they hated gays.

Seperation does NOT bring acceptance.

Whoever thought up the idea should be given a daily beating.

how does a 5 yr old know he's gay?

Apparanlty most people only realise in their mid/late teens.

The idea is auwfully silly for many reasons.

On the other hand if the school is just guaranteeing sexual tolerance there's no harm in it. It doesn't ban straight people although no doubt most parents would be terrified at sending their child to a school that would tolerate him or her being gay as this would increase their chances of deciding to go gay one day.

segrigation never works. sooner or latter these people will have to join the real world where everyone isn't exactly like them and the sooner they learn to deal with real life the better prepared they will be to deal with real life.
