  • Changing file size of a picture without altering dimensions?

Need to know, sick of making "do it for me" threads

    (It's a jpg)

PSP (and Photoshop somewhere) have a "save for web" feature that lets you optimize jpgs by altering the level of compression used for it.

Here's how to do it with Paint Shop Pro (you can find the 30 days evaluation version at http://www.paintshoppro.com/ )

      - Open the file in Paint Shop Pro
      - In the menus at the top of the screen, select the "Image" menu
      - Choose "Resize"
      - have both boxes at the bottom of the new window checked.
      - tell the size in pixels or in percentage of the x axis. The y axis will adapt automatically.
      - Save the file.

      And voilà !

To have a transparent background, you need a gif image. The jpg format doesn't support transparent backgrounds AFAIK.
              - Save your file as a .gif
              - go to the menu "colors"
              - click on "set palette transparency"
              - select white. You must make sure the background uses all the exact same white
              - Save your file.

              Bingo !

Edit: again, all of this in Paint Shop Pro.

You can't save it as a jpeg, because jpeg doesn't do transparency, and you have to make sure the transparency option is set on when you save it as a gif.

Don't get too attached to your avatar - I'll see if nobody else wants to bother playing, but I'd give you 50 to 1 odds it ain't gonna last.

Hey, it's got a banana in it! Censoring anything with a banana in it would be un-Apolytonian!

Hmmmm... what if I get her to hold a banana suggestively. Surely you would give that picture immunity for my efforts, Mike?
