do people here realize that god is beyond your understanding... a... thing that is the most powerful (that don't even describe it cause there's no word in english to even come close to describing god) thing in existance and non-existance...

if anyone here encountered god, if your head didn't explode trying to fathom whatever was before you, you'd definently drop to your knees and be his zombie-like *****...

"I thought God did kill the Satan once ?"

How do you kill an angel?

      "The Serpent wasn't Satan."

Ok then, what was the serpent? Just some random snake?

From the context, it appears that the Serpent was the "Adam of snakes", the prototype snake.

Note that God punishes the Serpent by making it crawl on its belly forevermore. And, of course, snakes still do. This makes no sense if Satan was disguised as a snake (why punish snakes for that?), but makes sense if all snakes are descended from the cursed one.

Well, that isn't quite what I meant, but I'll take any tithes you can spare.

would you be humble in front of satan
Apples and oranges—but note it is considered foolish to rail against the devil
BTW, there is no "Satan" in Genesis. He was invented later. The Serpent wasn't Satan.
Half true; he wasn't named in Genesis. Kinda like the way a serial killer or rapist will eventually pick up a nickname (eg, Boston Strangler), Satan (which means "opponent" IIRC) is an appellation applied later.
They're really good at making this stuff sound attractive i must admit, but then again this is supposed to be by a demon whose soul purpose is to lure you to damnation
Well, "distract you from salvation already within reach" is a better description.

You pose an interesting question, Sava. I'll have a go at it.

First of all, before I met God, I would go before Christ to be judged. This would be a time of grief, certainly, but also a time of joy. Meeting God would not be a matter of groveling and bowing. First of all, if I were able to stand in the presence of God, that means I lived as perfect a life as possible. I would be the son of a Father who has been watching me struggle and grow throughout my short lifetime, and who is welcoming me home. Secondly, if I had lived as perfect a life as possible, I would be joint-heirs with Christ, meaning, I would inherit all that the Father possesses.

The notion that "the Serpent" was actually Satan occurs MUCH later: the New Testament IIRC. The whole "eternal battle between God and Satan" concept comes from Revelation. Before that, Satan was God's tester: a concept similar to the modern "Devil's advocate".

But the Serpent apparently acted alone. The Biblical God's punishments are generally similar to the Mafia "termination with extreme prejudice": a form of assassination which involves also killing numerous innocent bystanders to show how REALLY angry you are. But if the Serpent was Satan, then God apparently botched the "hit" completely, affecting only the totally innocent snakes...

Unless you're arguing that the Serpent was really Satan because the New Testament says so? I'm more interested in what the original authors meant. Why should I care what the NT says about it? I'm an atheist.

People who destroy people are evil. or didn't you know that? If God isn't evil, then God won't destroy Satan.

                            God.

Now, if God is this ******* Jack Chick makes of him in his Comics,
who rewards People who themselves have been *******s in Life, but short before Dead trust in Christ and try to convert other people,
but punishes those who have tried their whole life to make the World a better place for other people, but haven´t actively tried to convert anyone,
I´d be glad to go to hell, because this God is in no way a God I want to serve
See also this Comic from Chick:
A couple spends 50 years on the mission field, trusting in their good works. But when they die and stand before God, they learn that good works can't save... only Jesus can.

But on the other hand if he is some kind of nice being who really cares for humans, I would readily kneel for him.
Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."
Tamsin (Lost Girl): "He has fallen in battle and I must take him to the Einherjar in Valhalla"

My reaction upon meeting God would be to throw myself at his feet and worship with all my heart...praying that he would let me exist in His presence. Any request of his would instantly become my will. I have absolute and unquestioning faith.
