Seems like the tomato growers are itching for spring, feeling tomato deprived....
You can ring up and tell them you're getting a Stupice (pronouced Stoo-peach-ka). A bit later on you can have an Anna Russian, too. Magnificent pink, heart-shaped tomato. One of my favourites.

That looks a lot like Missoula, Montana, fires and all.
Don't know if they geek out on tomatos there or not. But the fishing is excellent!
Vegetables in general and toms in particular are going ape here this summer, as it's been pretty hot for most of the season.

"and don't you come from Vermont or somewhere where practically everyone is a bit loony?"

I come from masachoosettes - the most unspellable state.

Frost is the obsession with tomato growers in those areas that suffer it. It murders newly-transplanted seedlings. The American tomato growers in the northern parts actually have an official Last Frost Date - calculated by the local government agency - for their particular areas. Their rule of thumb is to add two weeks to it to be on the safe side. Luckily, frosts are unheard of in this neck of the woods. Mid-winter, and I'm still getting tomatoes from the last crop I planted.

Yes, the highest mountain in Australia has a road going to the top which in summer is an easy walk for children and old people

But we do have mountains, and the Brindabellas are a very pretty backdrop to the city.
