  • All Gay H.S. in NYC what are your thoughts?

I looked at this from the angle of "Oh, so they arent ostracized?".

THEN I realized.............. well how damn hard is it to hide your sexuality? You really arent supposed to be "getting it on" in highschool during the school day anyway, so what is the need?

I'm not sure I can support separate schools based on sexual orientation.

I think this is a big mistake, and will cause more problems than it fixes

Putting the money into some inner-city schools would be a LOT more useful

        It seems... counterproductive, doesn't it?

The best way to end discrimination is to be accepted by the rest of the populace by interacting with them.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

How long before students from disadvantaged backgrounds start claiming to be gay in order to get into this school and get a better education than they would otherwise?

I don't mind so long as schools can eliminate gays if they so wish.

no, but word can and often does get around regarding afterschool behaviour...

in any case, i don't think this is a spectacular idea, but if people are willing to pay for it...

colleges then could eliminate blacks if they so wish (the existence of historically black colleges like morehouse or spelman suggest that); colleges could also eliminate women if they so wish (agnes scott, ehwa, vassar, bryn mawr); catholics could be eliminated (loyola university of chicago, st. rita's high school); jews could be eliminated; deaf, dumb, and/or blind students as well; muslim students could be...

                    how truly libertarian of you.

Have you ever been to a high school?
                      Rampant sexuality everywhere you look.

And no, I don't support different schools. It's a step backwards.

I do like the idea of the queer prom, like they do in Ontario, where anyone is welcome...but by far the biggest group there are gay teens who feel they'd be hassled if they took their SO to their school proms. I know a few people who went and said it was a blast.

                      Straight people are welcome too.

As long as it is not state funded, they can have all the gay schools they want.

                            Yes, with strong limitations.
