But decidedly far worse than someone like Bill Gates.

How much does P Diddy donate to charities?

      Yeah, that's what I thought...

I didn't know that you could major in ballet in high school. I didn't realize high schools had majors. And my high school didn't have ballet, aerobics yes, ballet no. Maybe its cause I went to a public school.

Keepin' it real from the Class of '96 yo.

Speer, by that logic Fred Durst is a renaissance man.

Fred Durst is a ****in' jagoff who deserves to be shot.

            Asher:

How much does P Diddy donate to charities?
http://www.riaa.com/news/newsletter/...001/061501.asp (also says what charities several other rappers have given to)

            Sean "P Diddy" Combs
Combs founded "Daddy's House," a charity which provides money to underprivileged children in Harlem, New York for computer camps, trips to Africa, among other activities. It offers comprehensive educational, cultural and recreational events for children, including special holiday events for children in foster care. In addition, Daddy's House Summer Camp develops and funds cultural and educational trips for 200 underprivileged children. Combs has already donated over $2 million to his organization, and is aiming to raise more than $4 million to purchase a Daddy's House Center in Harlem. He has also given of his time to perform for the NetAid anti-poverty concerts held in three countries.
            Master P
Master has given his time, money, and energy to help his home state of Louisiana. He donated $250,000 to his alma mater, St. Monica's Catholic Elementary School in New Orleans. The Catholic School faced closure after 75 years of operation because of financial difficulties. Master P also gave $250,000 to two nearby churches where his family is involved. He is seeking to build a "New Motown" in Louisiana, creating job opportunities and alternatives for hundreds of young people in the state.

Well.. I agree and disagree. I think there are invdividuals who are rappers PLUS they are talented in other areas too. I wouldnt' go as far and say rappers are intelligent and versatile, but that there are those individuals. Just like in every area. You don't have to be intelligent to make lots of money. But you should be pretty smart, and I'm sure these guys are smart. They have hired people to help them get more money, right? THat's pretty smart, you have to know who you're gonna get next to you making that money. Obviously they have succeeded.

So, I think these individuals AS named must be smart, maybe some of them are intelligent too. Hard to say, I don't know them personally. But smart they must be, and they have succeeded so.. it's all good.

Many times how you make more money is to surround yourself with the right people. Smart people succeed in it, and less fortunate people mess it up.

Thats the thing... true renaissance people are innovators, not guys who rip off other peoples music and slap some lyrics over 'em ,

I could see Miles davis or George clinton as renaissance men, but P. Diddy??

Was Miles Davis the CEO of a entertainment company and a major clothing line?

No, speer, he wasn't inflicting crappy merchandise on the masses to feed his media machine.

He was pushing the boundaries of jazz, and was active in the political and civil rights movements. He was innovative both in and out of music.

A story of Miles Davis comes to my mind.. he once drove a car, and it as it was white, he suddenly thought it was made of cocaine.. so he tried to scratch it and was panicing, since sirenes from cop car was singing somewhere, and he thought they were there to get him and his car made out of cocaine. I think it was in his autobiographie.. many funny stories

I think its quite obvious that people can't stand to admit that P Diddy and a bunch of other successful badass rappers had an ounce of brain matter in their heads. Get over it, the guys aren't Rhodes scholars but they know how to make money. As for the rest of rappers, theirs no indication of any trend of intelligence or business savvy, much the same for most musicians.

Oh, I'll freely admit that many rappers are business-savvy, and know how to turn a profit. It will be very tough to convince me that very many (or any) rappers are of above average or top tier intelligence.
