The biggest damage is from fishing. Both overfishing, "bycatch", and dredgeing up the bottom with nets. In comparison to that, things like the SD outfall are no damage at all. -

1.) OIL. Lots of it down there. Someday we will go and get it.
2.) Many sources of geothermal in the ocean. Power should not be a problem if the location is picked correctly.

The best thing to do is to "drain" the oceans and then create a one world city ala trantor (spll?): the water could all the rid of salt and living things and stored as great blocks of ice miles down in the crust in giant refrigirated rooms. It would all only cost billions of billions of dollars and thousands of years, but what the heck?If you don't like reality, change it! me
