And don't forget, there's the son of a son.

I've no problem with evil people dying, in order to save the lives of thousands of innocents.
Yeah. I know. Some bleeding heart will dispute facts, but oh well.

Of course it's no different. Both were propaganda done for the same reason, influencing the opinion of the Iraqi people.

If they do something it's bad, if we the same thing then there's justification for it. Normal state of affairs. Not just a US thing, we all do it.

Personally I think showing the Iraqi bodies is sensible from our point of view and Saddam showing the dead US soldiers was sensible from his point of view.

I agree. I see two slightly arabic-looking guys with bullet wounds and faces swollen beyond recognition. They dont even look like them.

Yeah. I know. Some bleeding heart will dispute facts, but oh well.
Then celebrate regime change, not the deaths of actual people.

And what's with the phrase 'bleeding heart' anyway? Is it wrong the care about people?

The difference is, the Hussein's matter, ordinary soldiers don't.
It needed to be proved, or you'd all be saying they were alive; and it matters.

How did this save any "lives of innocents"?

              Saddam = Al Jazeera ?

                It needed to be proved
It was already proved. And as you can see from the posts in this threads, there are always ones who don't believe.

,or you'd all be saying they were alive; and it matters.
                Like I said, I wouldn't.

                  So you mean,
that although you think it is not O.K. that the Iraquis have shown dead ordinary US-Soldiers,
it would have been O.K., if those Soldiers would have been higher ranking US-Generals (and the Iraqis would have to show them to boost morale for their troops)?

Sloww, I'm not trying to get a you, really. I haven't commented on the pictures themselves on whether they're right or wrong though - just people's reactions to this thread.

I have known some very evil people do some very terrible things to people I love. Yet I don't want anyone dead. Maybe that's just me.

                      They had head wounds? Damn!
I wanted to suggest that we pull out their brains mummy-style, pack their skulls with candy and noisemakers, and swing their naked carcasses from a rope above Baghdad while all the husbands they forcibly cuckolded took a few blindfolded swings with aluminum bats. But with cranial trauma that probably wouldn't work. I'd suggest the thoracic cavity, but I'm guessing the ribs are too springy to make good pinata material. And there would probably be riots over who got the bat first anyway.

They showed the bodies of government leaders.
Not just soldiers. Not even just generals.
Have you never seen pictures of John Kennedy shot, and he was a "good" guy .

Come on. Pull your heads out.

There's nothing wrong with having pictures of the deceased - it just depends on the motive. People weren't celebrating the death of John F. Kennedy.

And Tuomerehu, you go live in some dictator-ruled land, then come poor-mouthing around when they die.
                            I don't see it happening.

If they don't matter then why was there such a fuss about showing their bodies?

Of course they mattered, to the Americans 'cause it's a visible sign of the human cost of the war and to the Iraqi soldiers/people because it was a morale booster.
