This is a wierd thread. I never really thought that people would get so tied up in knots over the death of the Hussein brothers.

Exactly Q. But I'm not the one lamenting the sad loss and proof of same over the Butchers of Baghdad.

You said they were 'evil', how so? Any links, proves from their 'evil' deeds?

Releasing the photos was necessary to help prove to the Iraqi people that they are dead. It's not as if the US is releasing photos of random Iraqi combatants. If you can't understand this and the key difference between the two situations... you are a moron.

(I'm not directing this post at anyone... I'm saying in general )

Tuomerehu, since you evidently live with the covers pulled over your head, go read what happened after Gulf War 1's cease-fire to the Iraqi people.

His avocational sadism and sexual deviance are the stuff of Iraqi legend. "In his eyes," recalls a former colleague of Uday's who agreed to speak to TIME, "you see someone who can appreciate you one minute and kill you the next. It is not natural."

In Saddam's Iraq, Uday was in charge of the nation's Olympic committee; editor of a leading newspaper, Babel; and head of Youth TV, the country's most popular channel. He also ran a dreaded security force called Saddam Fedayeen, which lately occupied itself with beheading "dissidents" and alleged prostitutes. According to exiled colleagues--including his former press secretary Abbas al Janabi--he routinely abducted and raped women who caught his fancy.

But his depravity wasn't confined to sexual matters. Witnesses and survivors say he tortured athletes--and others who incurred his fickle wrath--in special rooms devoted to the purpose, even videotaping some sessions. Al Janabi says he was held and beaten nine times during his 13-year tenure with Uday.

some sources i've read seem to give the impression that many iraqis would have liked to have seen the brothers put on trial.

it's all well and good, and a noble idea, but i really don't think they'd've allowed themselves to be captured alive. they seem to be the nasty kind of fcuks who'd cut off their nose to spite their face.

Yeah, because the US values the UN's opinion

Face it SLowwy, GulfWar I was about reinstalling the Kuwaiti dictators... not removing Saddam. I'm sure Bush thought he could get Saddam back under control like he was all those years during the Reagan admin when we were giving him billions in weapons and aid.
