If second edition classes will be allowed in-game, I'm game...I'd hate to go out and acquire a whole new set of books tho...

    -=Vel=-
The list of published books grows. If you're curious to see what sort of stories I weave out, head to Amazon.com and do an author search for "Christopher Hartpence." Help support Candle'Bre, a game created by gamers FOR gamers. All proceeds from my published works go directly to the project.

        I would play

I am playing Palladium 2nd eiditoin about twice a week right now (I am the current GM)

I agree that it is mostly good for an excuse to get together with freinds and have a good time

I spend lots of time on apolyton, I would be willing to take part in this (I would prefer 3rd edition, it is the only one I am familiar with although I have almost all books downloaded (Edonkey is a wonderful thingh))

In 3rd Edition, when you gain a level you chose which class that level is in fairly freely. What amount of exp it takes to gain said level is the same regardless of class. (Though if you end up taking too many classes there's some exp penalties for having vastly different levels in your classes, and some classes (like paladin) don't allow you to both take a level in another class and continue gaining levels in that class. (Lawful Good characters retain their paladin powers, but can't ever gain another level of paladin if they decide to take a level of something else after becomming a paladin. And yes it is possible to be a paladin/rogue, though I can't really imagine how you would roleplay that.)
in some settings (forgotten realms?) certain subclasses of monks and paladins can multiclass out and back in (like a Paladin of Ilamatir could take a level of cleric of Ilamatir and than take another level of paladin)

I would suggest a DM/GM who knows the system well and is on apolyton all the time

I would suggest that everyone be in one party (at a single instant it is unlikely that any more than a couple people will be online)

I would suggest that there be enchanted bags of player holding which is where all players who are not here go

I would suggest starting at 1st level

As long as we have a good GM/DM it should be fun

I agree with JM. Unless there are a lot of people who want to play, one party should be enough.

IS THERE ANYONE WILLING TO STEP FORWARD AS DM?

I'm not on all the time, and my 3rd edition collection is not nearly large enough to cover everything that I would need to be a GM.

if oyu make up your setting than you really only need 1 book (or no books, if I started a RPG with myself as GM I would use no books and make up the system), now having less books can make it a liitle harder

if you are usiog a setting, than it is nice to have the books for it

Now that the idea has been tested, should I start a new thread for co-ordinating the game? (i.e. electing a gm, deciding on rules, mechanics, etc.)

And should I get started on that script?

                            3rd edition, Forgotten realms.

( have forgotten realms books up to my ears)

Jon Miller: Yeah, but the thing is I wouldn't want to keep ppl from taking the prestige classes they want all because I have no idea of their capabilities, and I would want to know their capabilities before I permitted such...

Besides that, you are right. Still, the not being on here all the time, and having to yield to my wife when she requires my, uh, attention would still get in the way. yet, I really like to play as well as DM... I would rather prefer someone else to do it, as I do tend to get carried away with it.
