Drinking at any age has the potential to cause problems. They should lower the drinking age to at least 18 and deal with those that are younger in a manner like you suggested. If a person is old enough to get drafted and old enough to be considered an adult, then they should be allowed the simple pleasure of enjoying a cold beer or a bottle of Zima. Point of the matter is... when kids begin to drive they will eventually begin to drink (at least the stupid ones like me). I would much rather have my kids drinking where I can keep an eye on them then driving off somewhere to get drunk, and then attempting to make it home by curfew...
I use to drink at a buddies house, and his dad even would buy us beer. Only rule, we couldn't leave once we had one beer. Fine by us!
I think the drinking age should be lowered to 16 and the driving age to 18. That way the kids can build a tolerance before the start driving.
