I know it's vague .. I think it's not that old, since it was on this extreme sports channel at backround while there was a snowboard big jump competition, and they tend to play mostly new than old. Though it could be older if it's more classic. I think it's late 90's at the latest. I don't know how to describe the beat, because I only heard it once and I can't remember very much because it was so good.. .. It wasn't jazzy though, even when it had that piano thing going on. The piano went with the beat, and was not used for melodies. Only one rapper. And his voice sounded a little bit like the guy in Blackalicious - Alphabet Aerobics if you know that song.. it was more gentle voice and soft, but it wasn't dragging at all like sounding lazy or anything like that. Aaagh, I'm afraid this is impossible

Albert Speer, well.. you know at the end of the track I started listening a bit those lyrics, so I could identify it later, but all that stuck in my head was mystery, because I had a feeling it could be the name of the song, or at least part of the name. I'll check that one out, who knows maybe I'll get lucky. If not, well maybe I like it anyway.

I've been getting back into a Montreal band called the Planet Smashers, and you both may want to check 'em out. They carry the unfortunate label of 'ska', but their music is a lot more digestable and catchy than most of the generic stuff that floods that genre. (Plus, they've turned into commies, nudge nudge, Az!)

If you wanna check 'em out, stay away from their earlier stuff. It's instrumentally sound, but a little too... silly, lyrically. Top priority downloads would be "Struggle", "Fabricated", or "Blind". Give 'em a try.

And, of course, I've got to give my reference to Dead Kennedys, which, if you haven't already enjoyed, you will not regret (Stefu can back me up on this). "Halloween", "Government Flu", "Well-Paid Scientist", "Moon Over Marin", "Chemical Warfare"... All great downloads.

Oh, and check out Eels if you haven't already. The Electro-Shock Blues album is the best pop to be released in the last 5 years, I'd wager.
