What's wrong with Vulcan High Command being bastards?

i can accept them being bastards. but they make the vulcans seem truly evil.

Odd, when I watch most of the post-TOS Star Trek series I expect to see the "Cunard" or "Holland-America" logos on the ships because their interiors look like the kind of poshness one would expect from luxury cruiseships. The latest Enterprise at least looks like a ship designed for exploration / military purposes.

oh, i like the decor; it's well done and quite nice.
i just think it's wrong, mostly because it looks far nicer and more modern than tos's bridge. it doesn't feel right, even making exceptions for our technology.

I must have missed a few episodes because I never got that vibe.

The vulcans aren't evil - they're just a little condescending towards the impatient humans who're almost always rushing everywhere and getting in over their depth.

It may not be as good as DS9 but it does show promise (although I'm basing this on having only seen the first season and a half too).

she's cute. but she's obviously korean, not japanese. just like how ensign harry kim was obviously chinese, and not korean. minor details, though.

Generally speaking, the NextGen and beyond series have taken about two years to find good story writers.

The bridge of the TOS Enterprise was designed back when most homes had black and white TVs and they could get away with making sets out of the about the same materials that are used to make stage sets - stuff that's not supposed to be seen up close. The budget for an entire episode then was about what they pay one actor now.

oh, i know. it still, to me, at least, doesn't feel right. what happened between nx-01 and ncc-1701? maybe the time war erased the records of nx-01 and knocked back some of our interface technology...

My PDA is more powerful than the central computer of the original NCC-1701. You can't possibly expect the creators of Enterprise to take the TOS technology and go back a few steps. Heck, if they would do so, the main propulsion system of the NX-01 should be a steam engine

When it comes to appearences (of ships, technologies or aliens (Klingons, anyone?)), TOS should IMO be considered non-canon. As long as they respect the storyline...

It's good to see the Andorians appearing. They were mentioned as one of the founding members of the Federation in TOS, but have been shamefully neglected in all series since.

I also agree. So each time they recycle something from the future like the Borg or the Ferrengi or even the Klingons I get more dismayed with the show. More of the Andorian/Vulcan type shows, where Starfleet helps bring together other founding races of the Federation.

i suppose i could sorta accept that, but just barely. still irks me.

which they haven't done: the first contact with the ferengi was picard's during the stargazer era, not archer's. what of the human-romulan war? the first contact with the borg was again picard's, by way of q. besides, a lot of those are supposed to be farther away, and would be difficult for the humans using warp 5 at most to get to.
