I think he deserves life in prison. Spitting on someone is assault with a deadly weapon. How would you feel if you were walking down the street and someone spit on you, ten years down the road youre hospitalised with some strange disease that you got from that person.
Good point, but if that's true, it shouldn't only apply to cops/government officials. They aren't any better than you or I are, and don't deserve more legal protection than either of us do, either.

if people would report it to the police then arrests would take place, but its more likely that the person spat apon would just return the favour.

I seriously doubt the cops would take the time to come arrest me for spitting on you, unless I was, say, an AIDs activist or something like that.

Let me say this, and you two can go back at it.
Assault can be verbal, it can be raising your hand.
I imagine spitting to fall under the category of assault.
Battery, is actual physical contact; fist to head, foot to ass, whatever.

            Sloww,

That's fine, but apply the law equally to cops and to me.

              LIFE?!

Jeesh.. but it won't hold I'm sure. But then again I'm not that sure .

I think it's a bit too hard of a punishment for what he did. Sure, attacking government official and placing bodily fluids is serious felony but.. but didn't that one guy just get 50 years for throwing poo at prison guard? I think he got 50 years.

I've been spat on face once. At bar, this girl just spat on my face for no good reason, or at least I can't remember any good reasons for her to do that. I wish she got a life for that too!

btw, if someone attacks you, just scream you have HIV and see if they want to engage with you anymore.

he assaulted a cop. plain and simple.

there was once a day in this country where cops were respected and feared. better days... better days.

So what? That's no worse than assaulting you or me.

At least his wife won't have to worry about him now.

Life in prison?!?! Hell no. Tear out his tounge and see how far he spits with the stub. That way society doesn't have to pay for the rest of his miserable life, and he can't go spitting on people.

Reminds of something that danged Sava would do.
I'm flattered that I've had such a profound impact on your existence!

I'm much smarter than that. I've called cops many names before (and had not a damn thing happen to me either ), but if I were getting arrested, I'd simply shut my mouth and call my lawyer. Once you are in the back of that squad car, you're in the court's hands. There's a time and a place...

BTW, I wouldn't spit in a cop's face... that's assault (spare me the technical jibber jabber Imran).

I imagine the judge in the case was looking for any excuse to throw the book at him considering what he was there for originally.

Yeah DD. You are probably right. But what does it say about Oklahoma's priorities? 1 year for wife beating and life for spitting on a cop?
