If the south tried to succeed again, they would not even have as many states as they had the first time, not more. They would get crushed faster; Given that minorities make up a bigger share of the military than of the pop, I can bet you Hispanics, Asians, and Blacks would not sign up to the neo-confed agenda: oh, and most nukes are at sea or in the plains, or out west. So bye bye whichever dead end towns joined the revolt (most big Southern cities, like Atlanta or Miami, Tampa, would not join up anyway).

Again, why would Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota and all the other Great Plains states with all the strategic weapons side with the North? We have a lot more in common with the South.

If Nebraska goes over to the Rebs, the North would be in a world of hurt seeing as StratCom is here and all.

Where would you get a stupid idea like this? Just because the Great Plains is more culturally and politically close to the South in modern times doesn't mean that we have any sort of longing for a return of the Confederacy. I'm assuming that a modern Civil War would be fought for different reasons than the first, so I don't see how slavery or protection of a now non-existant plantation economy would play into it.
