  • The enemy (Intel) is using our (Mac) Computers!!

    Here is the article!

I find that very funny! Of course I would not have believed that all Intel staff is doing their work on Intel Powered PCs anyway, but I think this is good enough to get Asher tear off some hairs (if he still got any left).

Who knows, maybe Intel is the next big customer for Apple Computers!

Heh, that's neat, but I doubt they use macs for anything non-adobe related... and probably very few for that.

They use it for Quark XPress, not for Apple.

And I wouldn't know, or care, about what kind of computers the marketing and accounting people use. I don't understand the point of it.

Should I go on and on about how Steve Jobs' Pixar just ordered 2,800 Xeons and not G5s?

It's funny you mentioned that, and Atahualpa laughed at it, because it was Atahualpa that started the thread like it was amazing news that Intel's accounting PR department uses Quark XPress on a Mac...

Whereas I refrained from posting a thread about Jobs' Xeon purchase over G5.

So you're laughing at yourselves, if anything.

Macs do seem to have niche uses...although I have never figured out why, seems to be just inertia more than anything

Yup. Inertia coupled with the fact that the normal software situation is reversed in some speciality fields- you won't find ProTools or QuarkXPress on a PC, because they are written for the majority computer which in these fields happens to be the ****ing mac. It's an evil spiral.

And QuarkXpress just now got ported to OS X.

QuarkXPress is also available for the PC.

I hope Buck knows more about music than software.

You can get QuarkXpress for Windows - at least that's what Quark says.

As for Pixar, I don't think Renderman runs on the Mac, does it? I recall reading somewhere that Pixar is going to produce more software for the mac because of the G5.

Linux clusters are simply the way to go for 3D rendering.

The main reason is that people who use them tend to start to like them. That's the reason I use one.
