You have to be a big-time city to get on this list, although some cities have snuck in. How else would you explain St. Louis and Atlanta getting the games while New York and Chicago are left out in the cold?

As you may have already seen, the '76 summer games were in Montreal, and the '88 winter games were in (shudder) Calgary. Toronto bid for 2008, and made the short list, but came in third, I think, behind Beijing (the winner) and... Istanbul, was it?did canadians ever have the olympics?
