  • Sid scores one for gamers

Today, when I went to the Home of the Underdogs, there's an announcement saying Firaxis had bought a number of old MicroProse games back from Atari (formerly Infogreed) and allows them to be downloaded.

Two thumbs up for Firaxis's sensible approach to the issue

          Press release.

Atari has transferred to Firaxis the rights to several classic properties, including SID MEIER'S PIRATES!®, SID MEIER'S COLONIZATION®, COVERT ACTION, GUNSHIP®, SILENT SERVICE: THE SUBMARINE SIMULATION®, F19 STEALTH FIGHTER, F15 STRIKE EAGLE and SID MEIER'S CPU BACH(TM).

Couldn't find it. I do admit i did not look too incredibly far, but every site I went to either had a broken link or said "Locked by Some Organization"

And that site offers illegal software down loads as well.

Does this mean that Firaxis can now legally use those names for sequel projects?
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.
