  • Political leaders you disagree with, but respect.

This question is for anyone in any part of the world, not just American Democrats and American Republicans -- among the political leaders who follow the opposite ideology that you agree with, who do you respect the most?

Or, with whom do you find yourself coming the closest to agreeing with partially? And why? It can be a contemporary political leader, or a historical one whose home is the graveyard.

As for me -- I'm not sure. I have to think about it some more.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

On some things, Tony Blair. For instance, his approach to Europe.

There are some things I like about John McCain.

      1. He knows Bush lied about Iraq and is trying to get an investigation
      2. He hates corporate criminals and wants to prosecute them.
      3. He wants better campaign finance reform to prevent corporate money from running Washington
To us, it is the BEAST.

"Why would you respect Tony Blair?"

A man of honesty and not afraid to do what he feels is right even if people are against him.

Thanks for the opinions, but I thought there would be more elaboration.

Bismarck - He took real efforts to solve the problems his political enemies addressed. Most of the social security system in Germany is still based on his reforms.
Why doing it the easy way if it is possible to do it complicated?
