    To ensure Sava doesn't "forget"

So Sava, characteristics currently available to discriminate against are learned qualities that you can actively change - religion, intelligence, drug use, hygiene. Other characteristics which can not be discriminated against because they are natural and can not be changed with conscious maintenance include sexual orientation, physical handicaps and - you guessed it!

    But wait! Race is either....

A). A characteristic you are born wit and haven't a choice to change because it is a genetic make up
B). A completely false human notion that doesn't exist

Now after picking one of the above (or abstaining because you are void of argument) - remember that for B: something that does not exist can not logically be discriminated against. If the "flawed" characteristic in truth doesn't exist, laying blame on the flaw for rejection holds about as much merit as rejecting an applicant because of the invisible stick of cotton candy rammed up his/her ass. Did you pick A? Well guess what then - you can't descrimiate against that as you can religion, because it is a concrete quality - not a leaning that can be altered!

So which is it going to be, A or B - and how exactly do you follow up in lumping together two polarized classes of characteristics?

Sorry, I won't respond to your irrelevant thread-jack. And your attempts to justify your bigotry and racism by saying "race doesn't exist" are deplorable.

Ok buddy - except I didn't say that race doesn't exist, I believe it does. Now you take one stance or the other on the topic - is race a definite characteristic you are born with, or does it not exist? Either one you pick destroys your entire core argument comparing polar opposite forms of discrimination in an instant - and that's not a threadjack.

So Sava, does race exist, or does it not? Please answer, and then apply to the standard of logic. Go ahead, we're waiting

There's a difference between race, ethnicity, and culture. Discrimination involves all three. Religion is also part of culture. It sounds like you need to take a Sociology class or something. Sorry, I'm not getting sucked into your irrelevant thread-jack.

            My Beliefs:

Solid Quality: A characteristic that exists as something that cannot be altered by individual choice, or is without individual control

Fluid Quality: A characteristic that exists as something that can be altered by individual choice, or is within individual control

Discrimination exists when one uses a “solid quality†to form an opinion or decision of that person, or concerning that person. Race, sex, and age are all aspects that we see in regards to solid qualities.

It is not discrimination when one bases opinions or decisions of that person, or concerning that person, when fluid qualities are being addressed. These are merely statements of fact. Religion, criminal record, social standing, education, and financial situations are all aspects of fluid qualities.

In order to be non-discriminatory in the current system I would have to admit that race does not exist. As race cannot be a fluid quality, I would have to remove it from the entire list. If I remove race from the list then it could not be used as a qualifying factor for anything, and would therefore be a mute point. Then again, if I use race as a factor, I am, by default, being discriminatory.

What the government has said is that all are equal, we are all the same, and by doing so they have, for the most part, said that race does not exist. Yet, when it comes to qualifying attributes it somehow does exist, therein lays the hypocrisy. Yet, if the government were to admit that race does exist they would need to address the issue of equality in order to avoid discrimination, thus being hypocrites yet again. It is an issue of "same, but different," and that is logically flawed.

My suggestion would be to base qualifying factors on the basis of fluid qualities and not on solid qualities. By doing so on can admit to the existence of races (if they so chose) and maintain the ideology of equality while avoiding accusations of discrimination.

For the case of education one could easily assure equality of admissions based on the demographics of national income, and then admitting applicants in proportions to the income levels. A restructure would need to take place every so often to ensure that schools are not discriminating based on any of the solid qualities. If colleges are encouraged to take from a certain income bracket, and that income bracket has a majority of people with a certain solid quality then equality, based on solid qualities, should be reached if those given the opportunities actually make the most of their educations.

            ---
Not a solid plan, but a plan none-the-less... It is still not how it should be; based entirely on merit. Yet, IMO full potential, and thus qualifying merit, cannot be as easily obtained by those with poor financial backing, and are more qualified/needy for assistance than someone with a specific solid quality. Besides, those with a greater financial income have their private schools, or they can go to community college for 2 years as they sever their ties from their parents, and earning a wage that would put them in the lower income bracket of the demographic.

Politics is a "fluid" quality. Should we discriminate against people because of their political beliefs? This is America dammit not Nazi ****ing Germany.

It isn't discrimation, but a statement of fact.
