You do need an enemy, therefore, you do need a war. So, are we at war with China? Is China the enemy? If you say yes, shouldn't we be arresting all those people who trade with China as well as all the consumers who but Chinese products?

The Soviets were our enemy but we were never at war with them. Nations may be enemies without currently being at war. China is a growing threat to the USA and we should not have advanced their ICBM technology. Any president would have been impeached (at minimum) for allowing the sale of the same type of technology to the Soviets.

We used to arrest people who traded sensitive equipment to the Soviets. I would do the same to those who trade such technology to the Chinese.

we're playing a dangerous game with the Chinese. We're hoping that by trading with them and bringing them into the WTO etc that they will democratize and become part of the 'worlds happy family'. If that happens that's great. But what do we do after giving them technology to build up their military to the point where they become a threat to us and they continue to be dominated by the same attitude that they have espoused for thousands of years? We wont be able to take it back then eh? Our national policies towards the Chinese are as screwed up as our policies in the Middle East.

I would not have lost any sleep over it at the time. A knee-jerk reaction to say the least. Fortunately, Coulter et al will never serve in public office. Rationally, it definitely would have been unfair. I'm not so sure about unjust. When an entire region of the world refuses to police their own, what do they expect us to do. A free America is conditional, not unconditional, and all the esoteric babble in the world will never change that.

Really? Why is it then that a large number of intelligent conservatives don't think much of her. Why not ask those people over at the National Review, for example? The editor of NRO doesn't have much favorable to say.

Her only crime is she is a female who doesn't tow the liberal-line.

AFAIK, Sandra Day O'Connor and Elizabeth Dole don't tow the "liberal-line," whatever that is, but they don't seem to get the reaction that Coulter does.

Coulter is a spoiled little New England country-club princess, who is a vacuous thinking, mediocre writing, publicity whore. Nothing more.

Conservative-minorities scare the hell out of liberals because it shows all minorities to think for themselves.

You'd have to ask a liberal, because I wouldn't know, but I rather enjoy intelligent conservatives such as Buckley, Will, etc., and even intelligent liberals (though those are a bit tough to find). How does the ranting of a country-club blonde show anything about "minorities" let alone "minorities thinking for themselves?"

The United States of America has interfered forcibly all over the world in pursuit of it's own perceived interests, and in disregard of the locals own interests, as they perceive them. So why shouldn't the rest of the world feel free to retaliate against any American they find?

i could say that white people have no qualms about nuking slants because there are so many of us. is that an exaggeration? yes. does it make it any less racist or hurtful? no.

what about the arab comments referenced above?

how can these comments be washed away? if a liberal did this, he'd be thrown out of the "liberal club", so to speak, tarred and feathered by his own kind.
