I swear that advert for the washing liquid says "The Essex of the Orient.".

    Daaaaarreeeeeeen
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

Your accent is like that of a cultured man from Hull, which is a term I just had to invent.

Mine, well, god knows. North Lincolnshire isn't reknowned for it's strong accent.

          Fish

And yeah, most people consider the expression 'cultured man from Hull' to be an oxymoron of the highest order, and to be fair, I can see where they are coming from If you want to go somewhere where they really slag off Hull, go to...erm...Hull

God good, I remember all that stuff last week on Calendar (the zenith of regional broadcasting of course ) and religious nuts from all over the world flocked to whatever the village was called...although from the footage there only actually seemed to be about 8 people there and they were all from the US...

...oh, and don't forget Lincolnshire sausages, and the ancient art of sheepsh@gging was supposed to have originated somewhere around Sleaford

ISTR that the Potomac above or even just below Little Falls is not polluted to the point of being squalid. I suspect similar is true for other fall line cities like Richmond, VA.

it would beat going to Virginia Beach.
