Because it IS with their consent; they were warned. Just as, if you chop your arms off with a chainsaw, it isn't assault, because they (probably, in todays legalistic world... but I won't get into that ) WARNED you against improper use.

No it is not. The RIAA wants an exemption to break into other people's computers. The product doesn't do squat, it is completely passive.

It is illegal now, that's why the RIAA wants an exemption.

        1. until recently, it was found that hatch's site used unliscenced code.
        2. until recently, it was found one of the links on hatch's site was to a porn site (well, the domain was bought up by a porn place...)

Fortunately, should this sort of thing start to happen, people who lost their computers and in the process some critical file that then made them lose their jobs/sanity would show Mr. Hatch why the gun laws in this country are too loose.

If there exists a system to damage the tyres of your car if you go the wrong way, why not to damage computers of evildoers?

All you need to fool these filters is to slightly misspell the word. For example, you can write 'b@st@rd' istead of 'bastard'.

                    Yeah, those are great

Wired recported the first one. In fact, his website is still using stolen JavaScript code.

Oh, wait. Wired reported the second one too.
