      Sava,
You should really learn the meaning of the word ignorant. Most of us here know a hell of alot more than you about US-French relations. You might want to look at your own backyard for the meaning of that word, you were better off using moron.

        Roman Empire friend.
The Roman Empire was being attacked from all directions. Also, you should know that after the end of slavery, the inventions of movies, radio, TV, and during all economic upturns (and a lot of downturns), people have argued that our moral fabric is being destroyed. (Actually, they always have been. Check it out.) You probably should refer to the "Good old days" thread .

blanketly hating an entire nationality of people due to government relations is ignorant

edit: ...so are baseless assertions about how much one might know about history

            Sava.

Being ignorant of another's culture due to their government is ignorant in itself.

My point of view of this is the conflict of the French gov't and its supporters which is a vast amount and an even greater amount dislike the United States.
This so-called French allie is a fasad. Those wingnuts have been jerking our chain for years now. From the early 80's when we couldn't fly across their airspace enroute to Libya to current day, they have gone out of their way to be a thorn in our ass. I am not very appreciative of it, so lets put this on an even playing field, have them admit they don't like us being the world power that they want to become and lets take it from there, honestly is the best policy.

All I know is my personal experience with the French has been less than ideal. I'm not saying they're all bad, just most of them.

                    Sava,
This is nothing about egos, it is what is expected out of an "allie". And put simply, they haven't been one recently.

                        NO,
They are a sovreign nation and I wouldn't expect them to fall in line every time, they are entitled to their opinion's but every time they get a chance to submarine us they do, that goes beyond just differences in opinion.
And it can be as petty as fly over rights to a known terrorist nation.

I don't think America has any right to complain about the French being difficult in terms of diplomacy. Since the UN's inception, there have been over 250 security council vetos... 73 coming from the US. And before the Iraq war, 1 from France... in 1976. So who is the ally who is being difficult?

too many Americans suffer from the "our sh1t don't stink" syndrome...

I am not going to take your word about the vetoes without backup proof and what they were about, you have been known just to throw crap out there.
Show me any link you have and I will look at it.

England is an allie, Tony Blair went balls out for us and I can only hope we can return the favor, soon.

Here I will help you with the site:

Common Dreams has been providing breaking news & views for the progressive community since 1997. We are independent, non-profit, advertising-free and 100% reader supported. Our Mission: To inform. To inspire. To ignite change for the common good.

So as you can see, we haven't used it the most and most of ours are to defend an "allie" according to this article, was Iraq an allie of France?
